Following Our Master Part 10: Secrets and Lies
Morning came too soon for me. I rolled over onto my stomach with a groan. My head literally was pulsing in agony. I should of know better than to take that one drink. The house was filled with two health nuts and I wasn't one of them. But I was outnumbered. So had to adhere to their strict diet of only healthy food. It wasn't really all that bad, until moments like now. My body couldn't handle the liquor. That much it was telling me with this hang over. I closed my eyes trying to go back to sleep.
"Maybe it'll wear off." I said to the walls.
I was startled awake with a bang of a pot and laughter. I again groaned. My head only pounded more a

It had been several minutes since the thugs ran on by. Daniel lifted his head to peek back over the ledge of the building. There was no one in sight. My brother nodded once.
I placed my hand on the top of the stacked bricks and leaped over it. I dropped down a couple feet. Landing smoothy on the railing of one of the landings for the fire escape stairs. I crouched down, wrapping my fingers around the rail. I didn't want to loose my balance and fall forward at this height. And I wasn't sure how safe it was down there. Although, it was clear to see that no one was down there. There was a loud sound as a heavy weight landed on metal. My gaze di

Once again my brother and I found ourselves running down the streets of the big city from the exact same thugs as before. We had managed to bolt past some of them before they completely surrounded us. Well it was more like Daniel shoved me past them to stop me from fighting. Anf the urge to do so became stronger at the thought of the nerve they had to attack us under the lights of the theater. Had to give them credit though for bravery. Daniel's voice quickly pilled me out of my own mind.
"They sure do hold grudges easily."
"A little too easily if you ask me."
"Like you're one to talk sis."
I gritted my teeth at that comment. I bit my ton

It has been a couple weeks since those thugs had sprung their trap. Danny was healing up nicely. Now, he just had to deal with a sore rib cage and some discoloring of the skin. Danny had been very weak from all the excitement. So, to stay out of trouble, we had to stay in and around the house. I enioyed the time, finding plenty to do with my new invetions and fixing things around the house. Daniel on the other hand was not so content. Since his injuries were so bad, Sensei had banned him from training till he healed. The problem was that was the one thing Danny loved to do and he did it all the time. Even when he didn't have to. He was mad at

Morning seemed to come at an alarming rate. The bright sunlight came through the window, illunmating the room. I still sat next to my brother, waiting for him to wake up. I had not moved all night. My eyes were suken in, and red rimmed from lack of sleep. My body begged mr to rest. My eye lids feeling so heavy. I could just close my eyes for a quick second, but it wasn't going to happen. I kept my focus on Daniel. I was definitely not leaving him now.
Daniel's chest rose and fell in a rythemic pattern. His breath no longer came in gasping, coughing, or labored fists. After putting him under, his breathing had become steady. Even now, with th

The night was quiet. Stillness settled over the house. I laid half alseep in my bed. A deep sleep just seemed to avade me. And all the quiet seemed to freak me out. I rolled over onto my side and closed my eyes. Ineeded to try to sleep. The peacefulness of the night over took me as I feel asleep. The peace was not to last.
A blood curdling, animalistic scream bounced orf the walls, growing in sound as it carried through the house. My eyes shot open and my body jumped off the bed. Adrenaline started running through my veins as the feeling of fright filled my heart. That was too close to be coming from outside. Actually it sounded like it came

My body weakened as I treadged through the city. My brother had yet to wake up and his body was becoming more of a dead weight. Our home was only around the next block on the east side, but it seemed like it was taking forever to get there. I clenched my teeth as I forced my legs to keep moving forward. My hand gripped his wrist, trying to be careful not to touch his hand and send unwanted pain from his broken finger. The fear of his injuries being worst than what they appeared kept pushing to the front of my mind. That fear motivzted me to place one foot in front of the other. My first and most important priority was to get Daniel home and

My worst nightmare was coming true. The men that had come my way had walked down the alley way. They searched all around, squinting their eyes. So as to peer into the darkness that surrounded them. They came to be meet by a brick wall. They turned around to look back up towards the street.
I stood in the darkness, my back in a corner between a building and the alley wall. I could clearly see the back of the men that stood in front of me. The moon light outlining their fierce features. I slowly put my bó staff back in its cradle. I took a deep breath and held it tightly. My hands reached out, positioning themselves on either side of the
